The Float is a testament to Lin's creative prowess and his ability to overcome challenging environmental constraints. The project site was surrounded by old apartments, a construction site, and a school, with no natural landscape to enhance its appeal. However, Lin's ingenious solution was to elevate the sales center to the second floor, creating a unique landscape with a stack-level pool. This gave the illusion of the building floating on water, hence the project's name.

Visitors to The Float are treated to an immersive experience. They traverse a large pond, pass through the ground floor of the sales office, ascend a staircase at the rear, and finally arrive at the sales hall. The journey is designed to evoke a sense of ascension and transcendence, aligning with the real estate's name, 'Sky Villa'.

The Float's construction is a harmonious blend of architecture, interior design, and landscape design. It utilizes a steel structure, and the building and interior designs seek integration and unity in technique. The materials used include fluorocarbon, oak stained glass, and metallic pebble, adding to the project's distinctive aesthetic.

Despite its complex design and construction, The Float occupies a space of only 5800 square feet. This efficient use of space is a testament to Lin's ability to create impactful designs within limited parameters. The project was completed within a month, from December 2010 to January 2011, demonstrating the efficiency and effectiveness of Lin's design process.
