Space Optimization and Versatility in Design

The standout feature of Ludovico is its ability to save space by hiding two chairs completely inside a drawer. When closed, the furniture appears to have four additional drawers, creating an element of surprise. The chairs can be easily extracted by pulling them out using the handles, which are cleverly disguised as drawer handles. This simple usability adds to the overall functionality of the design.

The main structure of Ludovico consists of four drawers and a compartment above the top drawer, providing ample storage space. Additionally, the furniture includes a table that can be used as a desk when taken out of the main structure. This versatility makes Ludovico suitable for various living spaces, whether it's a small apartment or a larger home.

Crafted using Eucalyptus grandis finger joint, Ludovico showcases the designer's commitment to sustainability and eco-friendliness. Eucalyptus wood is known for its durability, structural integrity, and strength. It not only contributes to the visual appeal of the furniture but also ensures its longevity.

The Ludovico design project started in April 2010 in Montevideo and was completed in October of the same year. It was exhibited at Expo Hogar (Latu) in October 2010, showcasing its innovative features to a wider audience.

Ludovico's unique design and functionality have earned it recognition in the design community. In 2012, it was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. Ludovico's ability to optimize space, its versatility, and its visually appealing aesthetic make it a remarkable piece of furniture.
