Football Fan Festival

The UEFA Champions League is the top football club competition in the world, and each year the Final of the event takes place in a different city. In 2012, it was held in Munich. Designwerk, led by designer Cristian Cook, were commissioned to create and produce a Fan Park and Festival Museum in the beautiful grounds of the Olympiapark.

The Champions Festival is a unique opportunity for fans to take part in football-related activities and learn about different aspects of the game, creating an atmosphere of expectation in advance of the Final. The festival engaged with fans on all levels, providing them with a memorable experience of the UEFA Champions League brand.

The Fan Park and temporary structures in the Champions Festival were all created on a larger-than-life scale, immersing fans in the grandeur of the event. Inside the Champions Museum, huge 4-meter high rectangular blocks showcased big photos of all the star players, past and present, further enhancing the sense of scale and importance.

The design team utilized architecture-based computer software to develop a plan for utilizing the space available in the Olympiapark. Through thorough ergonomic analysis and consultation with all stakeholders, the plan was refined to ensure an enjoyable and memorable experience for visiting football fans and their families.

The Champions Festival 2012, designed by Cristian Cook and his team at Designwerk, was a celebration of football and the UEFA Champions League. It provided fans with a unique opportunity to engage with the sport and create lasting memories. The design's strength lay in its ability to reflect the grandeur and importance of the event, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

This Design was awarded Silver in the A' Event and Happening Design Award in 2013. The Silver A' Design Award is given to designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The Champions Festival 2012 was recognized for its strong technical characteristics, splendid artistic skill, and ability to introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
