Trikaya: A Pan Asian Restaurant and Bar

An Exquisite South Eastern Experience

Trikaya; meaning three forms of Buddha, is a unique restaurant and bar designed by Ketan Jawdekar. Inspired by South East Asian architecture and the concept of getting close to nature, Trikaya offers a divine dining experience with its elegant decor and natural elements.

Simplicity is the key to Trikaya's elegant decor. The design plays with an earthy look combined with contemporary styling, while bold colors add a touch of vibrancy. The use of natural elements such as wood, stones, planters, and the play of light and shadow create a captivating ambiance as you move from one section to another.

Trikaya embodies the Oriental philosophy of The Absolute, Timeless Communication, and The Real World. It seamlessly combines functionality with emotional and visual delight. The restaurant's unique features and strengths lie in its ability to create a harmonious blend of nature and design.

The realization of Trikaya involved the use of local materials and traditional construction techniques. Exposed stone work with lava stone, partitions in white sandstone, and creative use of construction bonds are prominent features of the restaurant. The vertical elements of the walls are cladded with raw cement particle board, while the flooring is made of leather-finished black local stone. The exposed ceiling, painted black, gives the feeling of dining under twinkling stars in the night.

Trikaya spans a total area of 1300 sq. mt., with 350 sq. mt. enclosed and the rest open to the sky. The design seamlessly integrates the enclosed and open spaces, allowing nature to flow inside and creating a smooth transition between the two.

The restaurant is divided into three main sections: fine dining, lounge, and banquet areas. Each section offers a unique experience, with elements like water, stones, and plants enhancing the overall ambiance. The open lounge overlooks lush green hills, providing a serene connection with nature.

Trikaya was completed in December 2009 after four months of dedicated work. The project posed several challenges, including the positioning of existing services and the need to merge spaces seamlessly. However, the design team successfully overcame these challenges by ensuring a smooth transition and incorporating South Eastern elements into the contemporary styling.

Trikaya has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2014 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes the design's exceptional expertise, innovation, and artistic skill.
