Unique Coffee Table Inspired by Star Trek

Designed by András Lacfi, the inspiration for The Shuttle Coffee Table came from the shape of a landing shuttle from the Enterprise starship in Star Trek. Lacfi modified the ratios, forms, and sizes to transform it into a functional coffee table. The result is a stunning piece that captures the essence of the beloved sci-fi series.

What sets The Shuttle Coffee Table apart from other coffee tables is its incorporation of original Star Trek pinball playfield, complete with new electronic controls and LED lighting. Additionally, the table features four real meteorites built into its back container, including a Muoninalusta, a Chelyabinsk, a Moldavite, and an Indochynite. To add to its sci-fi appeal, there are also three lit Dilithium crystals, which were specially acquired as they do not actually exist.

The realization of The Shuttle Coffee Table involved the use of multi-layered MDF for the body, which presented a complex challenge in achieving the desired form and a perfect glossy finish. The lighting was converted to LED technology and is controlled by a custom-made panel, allowing for six different lighting programs. The table also features red LED lighting under the table for added ambiance.

With dimensions of 540mm in height, 1470mm in length, and 715mm in width, The Shuttle Coffee Table weighs 50kg. It is a substantial piece that adds a touch of luxury and uniqueness to any living space.

The Shuttle Coffee Table was first showcased at the PlayIt 2014 gameshow in Budapest, after 390 working hours were dedicated to its creation. The project was a labor of love for András Lacfi, who saw an opportunity to bring the art of pinball machines to a new level and cater to the growing market of private collectors and game room enthusiasts.
