Gerardo Ríos, the mastermind behind this design, spent 12 weeks developing the Cosmic sofa from the initial sketch to the final prototype. The entire process took place at the furniture research and prototypes facilities in Mérida, Yucatán, México. Years of studying human behavior, posture, and visual sensations contributed to the creation of these whimsical, organic, and futuristic forms. Multiple prototypes were necessary to achieve the perfect balance between structural strength and material efficiency.

One of the major challenges faced during the design process was creating a structure with different angles that seamlessly fit together. Countless hours were dedicated to achieving the perfect alignment and ensuring a flawless final product.
