Office Building with a Unique Spiral Design

The office building, located in Ankara, Turkey, covers an area of 8500 m2 and consists of a ground floor and four additional floors. The standout feature of the building is the gallery space, which is highlighted by a circular staircase that ends in a wooden parapet on the ground floor, providing continuity and a sense of flow.

The dynamic wooden structure of the building resembles a knowledge spiral, reflecting the conceptual approach of the design. This spiral element is felt throughout the predominantly with spiral wooden structure in the building, creating a unique and visually striking environment.

The office facades are designed to create a sense of dynamism, with a narrowing and expanding gallery space. The front office is detached from the main body of the building with a second layer of wall and light, emphasizing the glass front offices with circular and rectangular line frames.

The realization of the design involved the use of twisted plywood, waterjet marble, CNC cut special design aluminum ceiling, and perforated materials. The production techniques used for the spiral wooden parapet and the floating perforated ceiling were innovative and challenging, showcasing the designer's creativity and technical expertise.

The Ipek University Presidency office building offers a new spatial experience, with contemporary and unique design elements. The ceiling system, designed as a flying perforation intertwined with the wooden spiral, further emphasizes the dynamic and innovative nature of the design.

The Ipek University Presidency project started in 2014 and was completed in 2015. Craft312 studio, led by Onur Karlıdağ and Deniz Karlıdağ, created a space that goes beyond traditional office buildings, exploring new spatial experiences and creating an emotional and 4th dimensional environment for its users.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the prestigious A' Design Award, winning the Bronze in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2016. The award acknowledges the outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authenticates experience and resourcefulness. Craft312 studio's design showcases strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
