Eco-tech Square of National Resistance

Revitalizing a Place of Leisure and Encounter

The inspiration for the design came from nature itself. The square is shaped like a leaf, with a vein system that mimics the intricate structure of a leaf. This organic form, combined with a system of ribs and the flow of traffic, creates dynamic green areas that exude mobility and vitality. The square acts as a "green filter," seamlessly blending the urban fabric with nature.

What sets the Eco-tech Square apart is its emphasis on sustainability. The square incorporates bioclimatic design principles, utilizing renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic panels and stormwater collection systems. The wooden structures, concrete forms, and recycled materials further contribute to its eco-friendly nature.

The square covers an area of 0.6 hectares and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. LED lighting, powered by the photovoltaic panels, illuminates the space, while lighting columns provide free internet access and USB chargers for visitors. The square is not only a place for leisure but also a learning environment, as it educates visitors, especially children, about green technology and sustainability.

The project, which started in October 2012 and was completed in October 2014, has received international recognition. It was exhibited in various prestigious venues, including the Design for Life exhibition in Athens, the How we Play exhibition in Philadelphia, and the International Architecture Society & Habitat Environment Society of Asia Pacific exhibition in Shanghai, where it was awarded the Silver Award.

The design process involved extensive research and collaboration with the local community. The architectural team sought input from residents and pedestrians to ensure that the square met their expectations and needs. This inclusive approach resulted in a design that not only revitalizes the square but also enhances the quality of life for its users.

The Eco-tech Square of National Resistance is a testament to the power of design to create sustainable and engaging public spaces.
