The Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos sales centre, located in a repurposed furniture showroom, was designed to showcase the project's branding, marketing, and original artwork. The deliberate pathway through the centre guides visitors from a macro to micro perspective, introducing them to the project's vision and design.
The focal point of the space is a building model, strategically placed between a picture window on Yonge Street and a large video wall. This arrangement creates an uninterrupted line of sight, symbolizing the connection between the present (Yonge Street) and the future (the building model and video wall).
One of the main challenges faced during the design process was the inability to move entry points or glazing. However, this constraint became an opportunity to map new zoning and sightlines within the existing space. The presentation gallery also had to accommodate existing structural beams with irregular spacing and varying sizes. By adding and enlarging certain beams, they were transformed from a liability to a crucial design element, washing the ceiling with concealed light sources.
Completed in April 2015, the Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos sales centre is a testament to the creativity and resourcefulness of the design team. It seamlessly blends art, media, and fashion, creating an immersive environment that sparks the imagination of visitors.
This exceptional design was recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2016 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. The award highlights the project's outstanding creativity, technical prowess, and contribution to improving the quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
