Newmoon: Bringing the Moonlight Home

A Modern Ceiling Lamp Inspired by the Surface of the Moon

The Newmoon lamp draws its inspiration from the surface of the moon, with its distinctive cheesy-like holes. The goal of this design is to create an emotional connection between the user and the lamp, while also providing a wider light angle for better diffusion and illumination.

This eye-catching ceiling lamp is made from blown glass, with small lights located inside the holes. The curved edges of the holes give the lampshade a sense of modernity, while the wrapping angle of the holes allows for a more effective and wider distribution of light.

The Newmoon lamp utilizes LED lights, which offer a broader range of colors and a longer lifespan compared to traditional lighting options. The base dimensions of the lamp are 40*40*40 cm, making it a versatile and stylish addition to any room.

Designed and realized by Nima Bavardi, the Newmoon lamp combines both functionality and aesthetic beauty. By sensing the moonlight through its holes, it creates a unique and emotional connection between the lamp and the user.

The Newmoon project began in September 2015 in Tehran and was completed in January 2016. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted on the moon and space, resulting in a conceptually rich and visually stunning lighting fixture.

This innovative design faced several challenges, including the need to seamlessly integrate function and aesthetic beauty. However, the Newmoon lamp successfully overcame these challenges, providing a new concept of surface downlight that brings the moonlight into the comfort of your home.

The Newmoon lamp has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category in 2016. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
