Transforming a Cramped Workspace into a Stylish and Relaxing Office

Aiming to create a continuous and interactive working environment, glass partitions were extensively used in this office design. This not only separates different areas but also facilitates interaction and collaboration between staff members. The addition of playful elements, such as a snooker table, reading area, and snack corner, stimulates creativity and provides opportunities for relaxation.

The use of black materials throughout the office creates a sleek and modern aesthetic. Lacquered black furniture, black rugs, and curtains establish a base tone, while walnut wood, white painting, and a Manhattan night view digital print feature wall add warmth and colorful accents. The design also incorporates environmentally friendly practices, such as an energy-saving lighting system, to promote sustainability.

Technical specifications include the implementation of a smart living system, with various sizes of TV sets and Hi-Fi systems installed throughout the workspace. This allows the design team to demonstrate the effects of the system to clients, showcasing the possibilities of a modern and connected office environment.

The layout of the office is divided into specific zones, including a reception area, leisure and entertainment zone, reading area, resource room, conference room, design department, and the director's room. Glass doors and curtains are used as partitions when necessary, providing flexibility and fluidity to the space.

The project, which took place in San Po Kong, Hong Kong, started in March 2015 and was completed in October 2015. The design team faced challenges in renovating the 50-year-old unit, including addressing serious seepage issues and conducting extensive repairs and waterproofing measures.

Chiu Chi Ming Danny's innovative design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, technical skill, and contribute to quality of life improvements. By transforming a cramped workspace into a stylish and relaxing office, this design sets a new standard for modern work environments.
