Sales Club of Xining Salzburg: A Surrealistic Symphony in Design

Yi Chen and Muchen Zhang's Award-Winning Design Merges Music and Architecture

The design of this project is heavily influenced by the works of Giorgio de Chirico, a renowned surrealistic symbolism school painter. The designers have used his metaphorical language to create a multi-dimensional space through the deformation, transplantation, and collage of historical symbols. The central void, standing 14 meters high, is a symbolic silhouette of European architectural civilization, surrounded by a multi-functional area.

What sets this design apart is its unique application of music as a carrier of emotion. The designers have used curvy features and unrestrained reverie as a design language, allowing notes to run through the entire space by lighting, creating an experience of the flow of modern space. This innovative approach to design has resulted in a space that is not only visually stunning but also emotionally resonant.

The project was realized over a period of 14 months. The designers faced the challenge of refining the cultural essence of the space while retaining its historical traces. They also had to apply modern design techniques to current modern buildings to realize people's imaginations and expectations for European classical buildings. Despite these challenges, they were able to create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
