Jaco Pan's Award-Winning Design Transforms Hotel Lobbies into Cultural Salons

Jaco Pan's design was inspired by the principles of geometry. The architect visualized the space in terms of its inherent shape and used gradients of image and density to create a sense of ductility. The result is an abstract layer cascade that forms an orange tree, a symbol that aligns with the hotel's brand concept. The design extends upwards, maintaining a horizontal flow that is both visually appealing and functional.

The lobby's unique properties lie in its multi-functionality. In addition to serving as a reception area, it functions as a warm, inviting living room during the day. As evening falls, it transforms into a venue for small-scale art and music events, embodying the concept of a cultural salon. The lobby was crafted using primary materials such as aluminum plates and piano lacquer, with Ariston providing the finishing touches. The project, which covers an area of 570 square meters, was completed on Hexi Avenue in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, China. The design process involved careful consideration of the building's geographical position and spatial depth, with special attention paid to the relationship between the interior and exterior spaces.
