Orange Crystal Hotel Lobby: A New Dimension in Hospitality Design

Jaco Pan's Award-Winning Design Transforms Hotel Lobbies into Cultural Salons

The Orange Crystal Hotel Lobby, designed by Jaco Pan, introduces a novel concept in hospitality design. The lobby, traditionally a functional space, has been transformed into a cultural salon, a cozy living room, and a platform for art and music events.

Jaco Pan's design was inspired by the principles of geometry. The architect visualized the space in terms of its inherent shape and used gradients of image and density to create a sense of ductility. The result is an abstract layer cascade that forms an orange tree, a symbol that aligns with the hotel's brand concept. The design extends upwards, maintaining a horizontal flow that is both visually appealing and functional.

The lobby's unique properties lie in its multi-functionality. In addition to serving as a reception area, it functions as a warm, inviting living room during the day. As evening falls, it transforms into a venue for small-scale art and music events, embodying the concept of a cultural salon. This innovative approach to hospitality design sets the Orange Crystal Hotel Lobby apart from traditional hotel lobbies.

The lobby was crafted using primary materials such as aluminum plates and piano lacquer, with Ariston providing the finishing touches. The project, which covers an area of 570 square meters, was completed on Hexi Avenue in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, China. The design process involved careful consideration of the building's geographical position and spatial depth, with special attention paid to the relationship between the interior and exterior spaces.

The design faced challenges due to the building's location and spatial depth. However, these were overcome through careful planning and innovative design solutions. The result is a lobby that offers a unique user experience, with areas for reading and waiting, and a design that encourages interaction and engagement.

The Orange Crystal Hotel Lobby has been recognized for its innovative design, winning the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is granted to designs that reflect extraordinary excellence and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics. The Orange Crystal Hotel Lobby is a testament to Jaco Pan's prodigious talent and wisdom in the field of design.
