Perpetual: A Revolution in 3D Printed Accessories

LuxMea Studio's Award-Winning Design Breaks the Notion of Containment

Perpetual, a 3D printed kinetic pendant by LuxMea Studio, is a revolutionary accessory that challenges the conventional boundaries of design and manufacturing. Inspired by the curiosity of how cubes would rotate within cubic layers, the design team embarked on extensive research on interlocking structures, leading to the creation of this unique pendant.

The Perpetual pendant stands out with its unique properties. It is not just an accessory; it is a kinetic piece of art that spins freely, breaking the notion of containment. The design process integrated digital modeling and 3D printing, with a constant awareness of parameters and constraints. The result is a smooth-looking, free-rotating cube that is available in various materials including resin, brass, silver, and other metals.

The design process was not without its challenges. The most difficult part was coming up with the design concept of breaking the notion of containment between layers. The internal layer breaks through the cubic volume of its sequel container, and the interlocking structure smoothly rotates from all angles and all layers. The design team worked closely with their vendor to deploy the interlocking method for metal 3D printing, resulting in the multi-layer cubic shape pendant.

The Perpetual pendant is not just a product; it is a testament to the potential of 3D printing technology. The design team conducted extensive research on digital modeling focusing on interlocking structures and 3D printing technologies, including DMLS, SLA, and DLP. The research involved online resources, phone interviews, and onsite visits to technology facilities. The team experimented intensively to reach technical stability and explored cross-platform digital modeling methods, which brought new potentials in design.

The Perpetual pendant has been recognized for its innovative design and manufacturing process. It was awarded the Golden A' 3D Printed Forms and Products Design Award in 2017. The award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.

The Perpetual pendant is a testament to LuxMea Studio's commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and manufacturing. It is a revolutionary accessory that challenges conventional design norms and showcases the potential of 3D printing technology. With its unique design and innovative manufacturing process, the Perpetual pendant is indeed a trendsetting creation that is set to make a significant impact in the world of design and technology.
