The inspiration behind this design is the mindful connection between people and nature. Rose Ink Workshop has created a space that is not just aesthetically pleasing but also evokes a sense of tranquility and connection with the natural world. Custom installations featuring a crystal lighting fixture representing discovery and exploration, a 64 sq. ft. stone/pebble staircase sculptural piece, and an organic root sculpture chandelier add an approachable elegance throughout the unit.
What sets this design apart from others is its unique blend of sculptural installations, open plan lounges, mindfully connected themes, and a neutral color palette. The result is a space that exudes comfort, luxury, and beauty. Each bedroom is designed around a natural element: Water, Air, Fire, and Earth, further enhancing the connection with nature.
The design realization technology used in this project is a combination of art installations and subtle tech. A full wall mirror integrates with a 75-inch TV to reflect ocean views when turned off, creating a serene floating image when turned on. The custom lighting installation of naturally formed quartz crystals arranged to form the Sagittarius constellation adds an element of optimism, discovery, and exploration into the meaning of life.
The design project, first built in the 1960's, underwent renovation starting in December 2015 and was completed in November 2016. The project was a way for Liubasha Rose, the founder of Rose Ink Workshop and the design director for the 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach, to express her personal perspective on the 1 brand.
The design faced challenges in integrating a brand that was all about nature into the spirit of South Beach. However, the lessons and principles discovered during the building and designing of the 1 Hotel & Homes over the last four years were applied to the design of this penthouse, resulting in a seamless blend of nature and luxury.
The 1 Hotel & Homes 1610 Penthouse is not just a residential design; it is a testament to the power of design in creating spaces that resonate with the inhabitants. The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
