The inspiration for the Siam More Thai Bar comes from the concept of dining in a banana forest. The restaurant aims to create a private yet lively space where guests can enjoy the delicacy of Thai cuisine. The design team wanted to capture the essence of the banana leaves, which are commonly used in Thai cuisine, and bring that visual element into the restaurant.
One of the standout features of the Siam More Thai Bar is the partition that uses abstract elements to create a visual focal point. Instead of relying on spotlights, the design team used reflection and penetration to create a unique effect. The partition reflects light from the washed-wall near the grill and allows light to glow through the black-glass grill beside it. This not only adds a touch of purple, a traditional Thai color, but also enhances the character of the original cuisine.
The Siam More Thai Bar was realized using a combination of materials such as black glass, Lkalopanax ricinifolium veneer, rust paint, iron paint, and matte quartz tiles. These materials were carefully chosen to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that complements the overall design concept.
With a total area of 192 square meters, the Siam More Thai Bar provides ample space for customers to enjoy their dining experience. Even when the restaurant is full, guests do not feel crowded or have their sight interfered with. The interflow of atmosphere, sound, odor, and light creates a lively and leisurely ambiance, ensuring that every customer feels comfortable and relaxed.
The Siam More Thai Bar project started in December 2014 and was completed in June 2015 in Taiwan Taoyuan. Throughout the design process, the team conducted extensive research to ensure that every aspect of the restaurant reflected the vision and concept they had in mind. The result is a space that captures the spirit of Thailand and provides a truly unique dining experience.
The Siam More Thai Bar has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Siam More Thai Bar is a testament to the creativity and resourcefulness of Yu Ming Cheng and his team.
