Gungor Guner's inspiration for the Turkish Coffee Cup is deeply rooted in the rich cultural history of Turkey. The geometric handle is a nod to the Seljuk period, while the cloud motif pays homage to the Ottoman era. The cylindrical form, on the other hand, represents the contemporary element that carries both cultures today. This design was initially crafted on a potter's wheel, but Guner was curious to see how it would look when made on a CNC Lathe, a modern tool used for precision in manufacturing.

The unique properties of this design lie in its production process. Guner's study, titled "From the Potter's Wheel to the CNC Lathe," aimed to highlight the wide range of applications of the potter’s wheel and explore how the CNC could contribute to existing designs. The result is a product that combines the warmth of handcrafted pottery with the precision of modern technology.

The Turkish Coffee Cup is produced using a combination of traditional and modern techniques. The design is first drawn on the computer, and then production molds are created using a CNC machine. The final product is made by casting porcelain clay. The cup measures 13cm in total, with a diameter of 6.5cm and a height of 8cm. The accompanying plate has a diameter of 12.5cm and a height of 2cm.

Despite the challenges of combining two vastly different production methods, Guner successfully created a product that is both unique and suitable for mass production. The Turkish Coffee Cup is a perfect example of how traditional craftsmanship can be enhanced with modern technology, resulting in a product that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
