The Peacock Woods villa, designed by Aijaz Hakim Architect, is a stunning testament to the celebration of family history and the creation of a modern, resort-like home. Situated on a flat site in Ahmednagar, this four-level house spans roughly 20,000 sq. ft. and features five bedrooms, with an additional two bedrooms in the outhouse. The design embraces the principles of vastu shastra, ensuring the positioning of all rooms complies with ancient principles.
One of the key strengths of Peacock Woods is its seamless transition between spaces. The aim was to create areas that effortlessly flow into each other, forming a sequence of spaces that promote movement. Linear parallel walls define the expansively treated spaces, which overlook the landscape on all sides. As you move from room to room, the dynamic plan reveals oscillating volumes, creating a vibrant and charismatic living experience.
The interior design of Peacock Woods reflects the dramatic personality of the client, who built this house to celebrate the life of his recently deceased father. Each room is a vibrant and unique living area, exuding charisma and energy. The design team, including Aijaz Hakim, Seema Sancheti, Anand Doshi, Girish More, and Ankita Rathi, worked together to create a space that respects each family member's diverse personality while maintaining a cohesive design.
Peacock Woods incorporates advanced technology to enhance its environmental performance. The house utilizes automation for lighting and appliances, making them efficient and energy-saving. It was one of the first houses in India to incorporate The Club X Service, a highly exclusive invitation-only service for high net worth individuals. The project also invited manufacturers of one-of-a-kind products, ensuring that every aspect of the villa is unique and exceptional. Additionally, Peacock Woods is LEED certified, showcasing its commitment to sustainability.
The design of Peacock Woods presents several challenges that the team successfully overcame. Located in the remote city of Ahmednagar, the project faced obstacles such as a lack of skilled labor, materials, modern technology, and scarcity of water. However, the team's dedication to retaining the natural vegetation and minimizing disturbance to the ground and nature prevailed. Following the principles of vastu shastra, they designed the house to respect ancient scriptures while providing a modern home.
Peacock Woods is a testament to the power of design to celebrate family history, create vibrant living spaces, and embrace modern technology. With its unique character, seamless transitions, and commitment to sustainability, this villa stands as a true work of art and innovation.
