Housing from Ground to Sky

The Residential Complex

Innovative Design Blends Tradition and Modernity

The housing project "Housing from Ground to Sky" by Rasool Akhondzadeh, Ghasemi and Yoosefi is a unique and modern take on traditional architecture. Inspired by the behavior of stepped tissues and the concept of Mogharnas, the designers have created a residential complex that combines elements of Iranian traditional architecture with contemporary design.

One of the key features of this design is the arrangement of formal elements, which is influenced by Mogharnas within the dome-form canopy. This arrangement, combined with linear elements and green volumes, creates a visually appealing and private space. The designers have also incorporated balconies to enhance the dynamic facade of the complex.

One of the main strengths of this design is its focus on sustainability. By following the behavior of stepped tissues and penetrating into the earth, the designers have created a thermal barrier that reduces energy consumption. Additionally, the placement of some form of funds on the ground further decreases thermal exchange with the outside environment.

The design of "Housing from Ground to Sky" is realized using local materials such as thatch and brick. This not only adds to the authenticity of the design but also ensures that the project can be expanded and reproduced in any dimension.

The residential complex is not just a physical structure; it is a space that fosters social and cultural interaction. The arrangement of buildings and their relationship with each other, as well as the impact of the environment, create a complex network of connections that contribute to the overall success of the design.

The project, which started in November 2015 and was completed in December 2015 in Mashhad, showcases the designers' extensive research on high-rise buildings and their impact on urban environments. By addressing the negative effects of traditional skyscrapers, such as environmental pollution and disruption of the urban skyline, the designers have created a design that aims to bridge the gap between earth and sky in a more sustainable and harmonious way.

The innovative design of "Housing from Ground to Sky" has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2018. This award acknowledges the designers' creativity, technical skills, and contribution to improving the quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
