Zest Lifestyle Cafe: A Fresh Take on Cafe Design

Henry Chebaane's Award-Winning Design Merges Art, Retail, and Dining

The Zest Lifestyle Cafe stands out for its fresh design concept inspired by citrus and vitamins. The interior design and branding draw inspiration from Miami South Beach and Sydney Bondi Beach, as well as the citrus groves of Lenkaran, a subtropical region in southern Azerbaijan. The result is a vibrant, energizing environment that invigorates customers with its crisp palette of pale oak, white marble, linen Corian, and polished stainless steel, punctuated by pops of vibrant citrus colours.

One of the unique features of the Zest Lifestyle Cafe is its ceiling art installation, Vitamin Spritz. This large lighting art installation, made of 101 globes and 2500 rods of translucent yellow, orange, and lime, floats in space, gently pulsing throughout the day and evening. This creates a constant change of mood and adds to the cafe's sophisticated scenography. The installation is made of acrylic sculptures and is activated by dimming DMX controls.

The Zest Lifestyle Cafe is not just a place to eat and drink. It also includes a flower atelier, exclusive books, cult fragrances, limited-edition urban vinyl art, a coffee bar, a patisserie, a salad pantry, and a pizza oven. The cafe offers modern Mediterranean cuisine focused on health and wellness, with dishes inspired by Turkey, Lebanon, Greece, Spain, Sicily, and local dishes rich in fruits, herbs, and vegetables.

Designing the Zest Lifestyle Cafe was not without its challenges. The cafe needed to be able to service a large volume of breakfast in the morning and then transform into a hip dining place for the rest of the day. The high ceiling and large volume of the space, as well as the daylight, had to be made intimate and cosy. This was achieved through the use of fresh colours, soft material, and humour in the detail.

It is a fresh alternative to traditional hotel dining, offering a unique, immersive experience that combines art, retail, bar, and dining in a laid-back luxury environment.
