Ethospace Pte. Ltd. Transforms Banking Experience with Futuristic Design

The inspiration for UOB Bank's design came from an unexpected source - a 9-year-old Malay girl's essay. Her words sparked a vision for a bank that caters not just to its current customers, but also to the future generation. This resulted in a bank that serves as an experiential space, aiming to engage a growingly sophisticated client base.

UOB Bank stands out with its intimate aura, sculptural enclave, and understated entrance, offering a unique view of Singapore's towering financial world. The bank is composed of illuminated forms and graceful sweeps that define spaces in sculptural expressions. Each space is a stylish statement of understated elegance, engaging not just the sense of sight but all five senses.

The realization of this design was made possible through pioneering use of Barrisol product combined with LED lighting. This innovative approach pushed the standard boundaries of design at the time. The bank also features Mirror TV by Ad-Notam TV, further enhancing its futuristic appeal.

The bank's facilities are simple in operation, with most features operable by sensors and touch screens. Artwork from the bank, reputed to be The Patron of The Arts in Singapore, is viewed through TV screens. Yet, the human touch is retained through an exclusive Butler and Concierge Service from the designer Lifestyle Program Services.

Despite the challenges of creating a bank that defies traditional design norms, Ethospace Pte. Ltd. successfully delivered a design that encapsulates attention to detail from thought to form. The result is an inspired client base and staff, and customers touched by a bank that reaches out for their children's future.

The UOB Bank design was recognized for its creativity and innovation, winning the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
