Loggia: Redefining Space with Innovative Room Divider

In Chul Yeo's Award-Winning Design Offers Transformative and Customizable Space Solutions

Loggia, an innovative room divider designed by In Chul Yeo, presents a unique solution to the modern challenges of space utilization and organization. Inspired by the need for convenience and versatility in everyday life, this design offers a customizable and moveable approach to furniture, transforming the way spaces are defined.

The Loggia room divider stands out for its unique properties. It comprises various types of frames and dozens of units that can be combined with the frame. Unlike traditional furniture that is limited in space and function, Loggia allows users to customize their space according to their tastes and convenience. The frame structures are designed to be lightweight yet durable, enabling anyone to create space easily anytime, anywhere.

Loggia's design realization technology is rooted in traditional carpentry, using a mortise and tenon joint system for building a wooden house. The foldable divider features brass hinges, with units made from wood, brass, and leather. This combination of materials and techniques results in a product that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.

The technical specifications of Loggia further highlight its adaptability. When folded, it measures 600mm in width, 60mm in depth, and 1600mm in height. When unfolded, it doubles in width while reducing its depth by half. The unit pockets and units themselves are designed to be 10mm in width, ensuring a perfect fit.

Loggia's design interaction is straightforward and user-friendly. Users first select the divider, with a pair serving as the basic component. They then choose units suitable for their use, which include a knob, shelf, bookstand, blind, and customized options. Once the units are inserted into the unit pockets, the installation is complete, and the desired space is simultaneously created.

The design process for Loggia began in Seoul in January 2017, with two types of dividers completed by August of the same year. The team, led by In Chul Yeo and assisted by Dong-hoon Jung, continues to develop various kinds of dividers and unit products, reflecting their commitment to innovation and improvement.

Loggia's design was recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2018, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill.
