Olympos: The Elevating Dishwasher

Revolutionizing Dishwashing with Ergonomics and Efficiency

Dishwashers have become an essential part of our daily lives, but the traditional designs often come with their own set of challenges. The process of bending over to load and unload dishes not only takes time but also leads to back pain. Recognizing this common issue, Kenan Derya Sargin set out to create a dishwasher that eliminates the need for bending, improving both comfort and efficiency.

What sets Olympos apart is its innovative elevating mechanism. By simply pressing a button, the dish racks ascend through the rails connected via a worm-gear system. This allows users to load and unload dishes without straining their backs. Once the task is complete, the racks descend with the press of another button, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish.

One of the key strengths of Olympos is its versatility. The dishwasher can be installed in any kitchen counter, thanks to its folding door on the countertop face. This design feature prevents any interference with wall cabinets, making it a perfect fit for any kitchen layout.

When it comes to construction, Olympos is made from stainless steel, chosen for its noise reduction qualities. This ensures a quiet operation, allowing users to enjoy a peaceful environment while the dishwasher takes care of the dirty dishes.

With dimensions of 600 mm in width, 588 mm in depth, and 850 mm in height, Olympos offers ample space for loading dishes while maintaining a compact footprint.

Kenan Derya Sargin's design journey for Olympos involved extensive research and interaction with users. Surveys and interviews were conducted to understand the challenges faced by dishwasher users, while visits to dishwasher companies provided insights into existing designs in the industry. Sargin's internship at a nationwide dishwasher factory further enhanced his understanding of the design, manufacturing, and sales processes, allowing him to identify gaps that could be filled with his innovative dishwasher design.

Olympos has received recognition for its ingenuity and contribution to improving quality of life. In 2018, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Home Appliances Design category. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
