Samuel's inspiration for the Koji pushchair came from his extensive experience in the industry and the recognition of a need for a compact, lightweight, and stylish pushchair that does not compromise on quality. The Koji pushchair is perfect for active parents and city dwellers, offering a choice of two chassis colors and five accessory pack colors for full customization.
The Koji pushchair is made from aluminium and plastic, using injection mould tooling. The product's specifications include a folded size of 82 x 50.5 x 30.5cm, an assembled size of 90 x 50 x 106cm, and a weight of 10.5kg. It can be folded to a compact size for easy storage and transforms into a travel system with the use of a car seat or a carrycot suitable for overnight sleeping.
The design project, which started in July 2016 and finished in March 2018, was carried out across the UK and China. The design team, led by designer Richard Lee Shaw and creative director Michael Samuel, conducted detailed research into the stroller market, identifying gaps in product functionality and price points. The result is a modern design that offers excellent value and quality.
The design engineering process presented several challenges, including the need to invest in all the tooling for the design and to overcome obstacles to ensure the product's functionality and aesthetic appeal. Despite these challenges, the Koji pushchair stands out as a testament to the team's creativity and technical expertise.
The Koji pushchair is a remarkable example of innovative design, offering a solution that is both practical and stylish. Its recognition with the Golden A' Design Award is a testament to the quality and ingenuity of Michael Samuel and his team. As the world of design continues to evolve, products like the Koji pushchair set the standard for functionality, style, and value.
