Mercku: Revolutionizing WiFi Control with Innovative Mobile Application

The Mercku mobile application stands out for its unique features. It allows hosts to monitor who is using their WiFi system and limit the bandwidth for each user. The application also offers a simplified login system where new users can join by scanning a QR code. Hosts can remove unwanted users and blacklist them to prevent future logins. The application's interface is not only aesthetically pleasing but also intuitive, making it easy for users to navigate.

Developed using Sketch 4.9, Adobe Photoshop CC 2018, and After Effect CC 2018, the application is compatible with devices running iOS 8.0 and Android 4.2 or above. The programming was done in Android and iOS native languages, with research conducted through empirical personal research and a LinkedIn poll.

The application's design and functionality were inspired by the desire to give hosts full control over their WiFi system. The designers, Ronghao Jin and Juan Lin, conducted extensive research, polling over 500 candidates from personal connections and LinkedIn. The research revealed that users desired full control over their network, including the ability to ban individuals, limit bandwidth, and simplify the login process.

The main challenge in designing the Mercku mobile application was finding the right balance between functionality and ease of use. Too many functions could make the application powerful but difficult to learn. Therefore, the application focuses on three main areas: connectivity, user management, and network information. This focus makes the application both powerful and easy to use.
