Memoria: A Unique Table Design by Giacinto Faba

An Elegant and Timeless Piece for Your Living Space

The Memory table, designed by Giacinto Faba, is a one-of-a-kind piece that combines artistry, functionality, and natural materials. Inspired by the iconic Pavilion for the exhibition in Barcelona, projected by Mies van der Rohe, Faba envisioned a table with legs in the shape of a cross. The table's unique design and use of materials make it a standout piece in any living room.

The Memory table breaks away from conventional design schemes. Its solid oak top, left in its natural state, showcases the beauty of the wood while preserving its unique characteristics. The four iron legs, also left in their natural state, add a touch of industrial elegance to the design. Each leg is formed by two interlocked iron plates, cut with precision using laser technology, creating a Greek cross profile. This innovative construction method eliminates the need for welding and adds to the table's distinctive appeal.

Measuring at 101 cm in width, 226 cm in length, and 75 cm in height, the Memory table is a substantial piece that commands attention. Its size and design make it a versatile addition to any living space, seamlessly integrating into various interior styles. Whether placed in a modern, minimalist setting or a more traditional environment, the table's unique character will shine through.

The creation of the Memory table involved extensive research and overcoming several challenges. One of the main obstacles was the lack of cross-shaped profiles for the legs. Faba ingeniously solved this problem by using two plates and joining them with laser-cut precision, creating a male-female coupling. Another challenge was ensuring the planarity of the wooden planks, as they were not perfectly flat. Despite these hurdles, Faba's meticulous attention to detail resulted in a flawless final product.

The Memory table is not just a functional piece of furniture; it is a work of art that tells a story. The solid oak top, made from two 6 cm thick slabs obtained from the same oak, showcases the natural beauty of the wood, with the veins forming a captivating "open spot" pattern. The signs of aging on the wood serve as a reminder of the table's history and add a touch of nostalgia to its design.

Giacinto Faba's Memory table is a testament to the designer's creativity and craftsmanship. Its unique features, including the cross-shaped legs and natural materials, set it apart from other tables on the market. This exceptional piece was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative qualities. If you're looking to add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your living space, the Memory table is the perfect choice.
