Offf: A Colorful and Versatile Rack Design

Bringing Shelves to the Floor in a New and Creative Way

The idea behind Offf was to disconnect shelves from their traditional place on the wall and bring them down to the floor as a rack. The designers wanted to create a piece that not only serves as a functional storage solution but also adds a touch of design to empty walls. The name Offf perfectly represents this concept, emphasizing the disconnection and reimagining of shelves.

One of the standout features of Offf is its transparency. The rack is visually open, allowing users to easily see the objects stored inside. This transparency not only adds a unique aesthetic appeal but also makes it convenient to locate and access items without the need to open any drawers or doors. Whether it's video games, storage boxes, controls, or plants, Offf provides a practical and accessible storage solution.

The construction of Offf combines carbon steel for the structure and pine wood sheets for the shelves. The carbon steel structure provides durability and stability, while the pine wood shelves add a touch of warmth and natural beauty to the design. The combination of these materials creates a harmonious balance between industrial and organic elements.

Measuring at 2100mm in width, 350mm in depth, and 500mm in height, Offf is designed to fit seamlessly into any living space. Its colorful and vibrant appearance adds a playful touch to the room, making it a focal point of attention. The rack is not only functional but also serves as a statement piece that enhances the overall aesthetic of the space.

The Offf rack was developed between October 2017 and April 2018, with the initial stages taking place in Santos SP and the finalization in Sao Paulo SP. Throughout the design process, the team faced various challenges, including considering aspects such as production, costs, target audience, and marketing. However, their dedication and attention to detail resulted in a well-executed and innovative design.

Offf has received recognition for its exceptional design and functionality. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019, which honors well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. This accolade highlights Offf's integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.
