Bee: The Honey Spoon

A Functional and Aesthetic Design for Honey Lovers

The Bee honey spoon stands out from other designs in its category due to its innovative approach to form and function. Atallah wanted to create a product that would challenge traditional honey spoons while remaining highly functional. The spoon's bold and twisted body evokes the graceful movements of bees in flight, while the stripes on its surface pay homage to the iconic pattern of bees.

One of the key strengths of the Bee honey spoon is its versatility. It is designed to be suitable for all types of honey, making it a convenient tool for honey enthusiasts. The spoon features a spatula on one side for spreading butter or creamy honey, and a striped edge on the opposite side for liquid honey or syrup.

In terms of production, the Bee honey spoon can be made from either wood or plastic, with a preference for wood. If produced in plastic, the design allows for a two-half symmetrical mold. The dimensions of the spoon are W: 35mm x H: 190mm x D: 35mm, making it compact and easy to handle.

The development of the Bee honey spoon began in September 2017 and was completed in January 2018 in France. During the design process, extensive research was conducted to identify existing products in the market and understand the specific needs of honey enthusiasts. The challenge was to create a cost-effective product that could be produced with minimal tooling while maximizing functionality and visual impact.

The Bee honey spoon has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware Design category in 2019. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to professional and industrial standards.
