Elegant Outline: A Minimalist Trash Bin Design

Simplifying Waste Management with Innovative Design

The inspiration for the Elegant Outline design came from the designers' observation of a common problem in office spaces. They noticed that people often do not replace full trash bags, opting instead to place a plastic carry bag beside the bin or on top of the overflowing trash. This practice not only creates a messy appearance but also adds to the workload of the cleaners. Chen and Yan aimed to create a design that would make the cleaner's job easier while promoting a cleaner and more organized workspace.

The Elegant Outline trash bin stands out from its counterparts due to its unique features. The designers have incorporated a roll of trash bags into the bottom of the bin, allowing users to easily pull out a new bag and fix it on top when one bag is full. This simple yet effective solution eliminates the need to search for replacement bags and ensures a clean and hygienic waste disposal process. The "U" shape design of the bin accommodates various types of plastic carry bags, encouraging their use and promoting environmental sustainability.

The realization of the Elegant Outline design involved the bending of aluminum alloy and anodized finish treatment for the entire main unit. The result is a sleek and lightweight trash bin that seamlessly blends into any office or home environment. With dimensions of 290*190*300 mm, the bin is compact yet spacious enough to hold a considerable amount of waste.

The Elegant Outline trash bin made its debut in October 2018 at the GOOD Design EXHIBITION and later at the Guangzhou Design Week. Its innovative design and practicality garnered positive feedback from both industry professionals and consumers. The ability to accommodate both roll bags and plastic carry bags adds versatility to the design, making it a preferred choice for waste management in various settings.

This outstanding design has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2019. The award acknowledges the creativity and resourcefulness of the Elegant Outline trash bin, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
