Shy No BBQ and Bar is the fifth restaurant operated by the project owner, each featuring a distinct design style. This particular establishment was designed with the future in mind, as the owner plans to expand into a chain business. The design aims to appeal to a broad range of consumers, from the young to the elderly, while highlighting the operator's unique personality.
The design of Shy No BBQ and Bar is simple yet sophisticated, comfortable yet not casual. The use of gray as the primary color, supplemented by warm log hues, creates a unified visual experience. This choice of materials not only enhances the space's integrity but also considers construction convenience and cost control, laying a solid foundation for the rapid expansion of new restaurants.
The restaurant was initially a 5.7-meter-high storefront on the first floor. To increase the business area, a two-story steel structure sandwich was added. The first floor stands at 2.75 meters high, and the second floor at 2.5 meters. All main pipelines and air conditioning drainage are located in the non-sandwich area, ensuring customer comfort and space integrity.
The design team faced a tight project timeline, which required frequent late-night meetings to ensure the project's timely completion and optimal design effect. Each area, line, and size was scrutinized multiple times to achieve the desired outcome. Despite the project's small overall area, the designers managed to avoid a monotonous impression by creating a sense of space continuity and using Chinese architectural techniques to lengthen the moving line and borrow scenery from each other.
Shy No BBQ and Bar is a testament to Kingdom Kuo's innovative approach to restaurant design. It not only challenges traditional barbecue dining stereotypes but also presents a unique, modern, and elegant dining environment. This design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, is a shining example of how design can revolutionize the dining experience.
