Wheat Field Dream

A Versatile and Environmentally Friendly Sales and Cultural Center

The Wheat Field Dream is a unique and innovative project that combines the functionality of a sales center with the artistic appeal of a cultural center. Designed by Xiwen Guo, this project stands out for its transformative design, short construction time, and environmentally friendly features.

The inspiration for the Wheat Field Dream came from the need to create a space that could be constructed quickly and cost-effectively without compromising on design. The project team took only two months to design and build this environmentally friendly and versatile composite space.

One of the standout features of the Wheat Field Dream is its curtain wall, which is made of punched aluminum plates and full-color LED lights. This combination creates a colorful dream-like effect, all while keeping costs low and installation fast. The use of prefabricated construction methods throughout the project further accelerated the construction process.

The Wheat Field Dream is not just visually stunning, but also boasts unique properties that set it apart from other projects. By seamlessly integrating the art center and the sales center, this project offers a transformative experience for visitors. The foundation of the original building was preserved by placing a white punched aluminum plate on top, which serves as a canvas for the concept of the Northern Lights, created using full-color LED lights. The project also prioritizes the use of environmentally friendly materials and incorporates the construction of prefabricated buildings.

Technologically, the Wheat Field Dream was realized through the use of prefabricated building techniques, perforated aluminum plates, art paint, and magnesium oxide plates. The design area spans 1850 square meters, providing ample space for both the sales and cultural center components.

Located in Nanjing, China, the Wheat Field Dream was completed within a short timeframe, with the design process starting in August 2017 and the project being finished by October 2017. The proximity of the sales center to the university town influenced the design, as the target audience for the houses being sold were mainly young people. The project team aimed to create a modern space that would resonate with this demographic.

The Wheat Field Dream presented several challenges due to its tight timeline and the multifaceted considerations involved. However, the team's dedication to creating a versatile composite space that is environmentally friendly drove their creative problem-solving. The result is an art palace that doubles as a sales center, showcasing the team's ingenuity and hard work.

The Wheat Field Dream was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This prestigious accolade recognizes the project's outstanding design, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving the quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
