Forging: Industrial Style Office Furniture

Creating a Strong and Reliable Workspace

Forging office furniture combines the elegance of elm wood with the strength of bent iron plates to create a unique industrial style. Designed by Wei Jingye and Zhang Tianyou, this collection includes a work desk and a matching chair, perfect for offices, studies, and everyday life.

The inspiration for Forging furniture comes from the combination of a metal plate folded structure and a triangular frame structure. By applying the principle of triangulation and using metal flaps as the supporting structure, the designers have created a furniture collection that is both aesthetically pleasing and sturdy. The fusion of American style furniture with personalized and stylized design elements adds a touch of uniqueness to the collection.

What sets Forging furniture apart is its use of elm wood and bent iron plates as the main materials. The straight lines and bends in the design give the furniture a sense of perseverance and reliability. The combination of wood and metal creates a strong industrial style that is both functional and visually appealing.

The realization of Forging furniture involves careful craftsmanship and attention to detail. The support structure of each piece is made using iron plate bending technology, ensuring the stability and durability of the furniture. The back and seat of the chair are crafted from elm wood, providing comfort and elegance.

The design specifications of Forging furniture include a consistent structure between the bottom of the seat and the supporting table. The wood is shaped to fit the grooves at the bottom of the table and chair, while the iron plates are folded and fixed to provide support. This combination of materials and techniques results in a unique industrial style for the seat.

Designed with user comfort in mind, Forging furniture is suitable for various sitting postures, making it ideal for work, study, and leisure activities. The chair's backrest is ergonomically shaped to fit the contours of the human back, while the table's height is designed with consideration for optimal posture and usability.

The Forging furniture project began in January 2018 in Shenyang and was completed in June 2018. It was exhibited at the art museum of Shenyang Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, showcasing the innovative design and craftsmanship of Wei Jingye and Zhang Tianyou.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2020. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, technical skill, and resourcefulness. Forging furniture exemplifies the integration of art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With Forging furniture, Wei Jingye and Zhang Tianyou have created a collection that combines functionality, aesthetics, and industrial style. Whether in an office or a study, this furniture will provide a reliable and stylish workspace for anyone seeking a touch of elegance and strength in their environment.
