Vidkapix: A Minimal and Friendly Illustration DesignDeveloping Anton Mikhalenkov's Graphic Style
This series of minimal and friendly drawings, known as Vidkapix, is the latest development in Anton Mikhalenkov's graphic style. Inspired by contemporary artists Jean-Michel Basquiat and David Hockney, Anton has created a collection of artworks that aim to achieve maximum effect through the use of simple shapes and colors. However, in this project, Anton seeks to break free from principles and rules, allowing for more freedom and emotional strength in the artistic image. The result is a series of illustrations that capture fleeting moments, like clouds forming recognizable shapes only to dissipate shortly after.
Anton Mikhalenkov, the designer behind Vidkapix, utilized his iPhone to create the digital artworks. These illustrations were then transformed into tattoos using professional tattoo equipment and certified disposable supplies. With a digital document size of 1080 x 1920 pixels, the designs are meticulously crafted to ensure a high level of detail and clarity.
The Vidkapix project began in February 2018 and was exhibited at the Kurgan Regional Art Museum in August of the same year. Anton Mikhalenkov's unique approach to illustration and tattoo design has garnered attention and recognition, including the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2019. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Vidkapix illustrations have been celebrated for their integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and their ability to evoke fulfillment and positive emotions.
