Zen Mood: A New Wave of Modular Minimalist Homes

Francisco Eduardo Sa and Felipe Savassi's Award-Winning Architectural Innovation

Inspired by the concept of modular minimalist houses, Francisco Eduardo Sa and Felipe Savassi have created Zen Mood, a flexible, contemporary design that redefines the traditional concept of a home. This article explores the unique properties, design process, and the accolades of this innovative architectural project.

Francisco Eduardo Sa and Felipe Savassi drew inspiration from modular minimalist houses such as Wikkel House. The clean, sophisticated design and minimalist concept are reflected in the shapes and materials used in the project. Metallic elements, wood, and glass, all in neutral colors, harmonize with the surrounding landscape, creating a new element without overpowering the existing environment.

Zen Mood stands out for its flexibility and modularity. The parts are easy to transport, and the structure can be assembled quickly, with the potential to be installed in a single day. Offered in two formats, Zen Mood creates a myriad of possibilities, from homes to offices and showrooms. The project also emphasizes sustainability through its clean, industrialized construction method, positioning architecture as a product design.

The Zen Mood house is constructed using a steel frame structure with exterior finishing of ACM panels, interior finishing of plywood, and a core of thermoacoustic insulation. Each module measures 3.20 x 6.00 meters, fitting perfectly into a truck load. The house is divided into four modules, each with its own structure that can be assembled with the other modules. The floor plan layout is designed to be divided according to the structure.

Despite the challenges of creating a house that could fit into a truck load and designing a floor plan that could be divided according to the structure, the team successfully overcame these obstacles. Their prior experience and knowledge in modular constructions played a crucial role in the design and realization of Zen Mood.

Zen Mood is a conceptual project centered around minimalism, adaptability, and aesthetics. The individual segments can be attached to create a variety of shapes and uses. The transportation is mainly made by trucks, and it can be delivered and installed in just one day. The project is patented under 03Zd94 by Francisco Eduardo de Mello Franco Sa in 2019.

The innovative design of Zen Mood has not gone unnoticed in the world of architecture. It was awarded Silver in the A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2020, a prestigious accolade given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. This award is a testament to the creativity, technical prowess, and artistic skill that went into the creation of Zen Mood.
