The design inspiration for the Yunzhou Banquet Hall came from the local lifestyle and culture of Wuzhen. Wang interpreted these elements through the lens of "clothing, food, housing, transportation, and entertainment." The result is a banquet center that exudes a high-end, elegant, and exquisite Internet atmosphere, reflecting the characteristics of the contemporary Internet technology era.
What sets this design apart is its integration of traditional culture with modern elements. The banquet hall is well-connected with other parts of Wuzhen, aiming to create a rich sense of space with a humanistic spirit. This design highlights the historical and cultural charm of Wuzhen, striking a chord with visitors and locals alike.
The realization of this design involved the use of various materials such as Italian grey stone, blue gem, blue open lacquer wood veneer, art relief wood veneer, wood grain aluminum plate, bronze stainless steel, hand-painted wallpaper, and fabric hard bag. Covering a total of 43485 square meters, the banquet hall is a grand representation of Wang's vision.
Elements of local culture and customs such as blue batik cloth, small boats, waterside pavilions, pickle shops, and flower-drum opera have been reflected in the interior design. This makes the banquet hall an integration of global fashion and local flavor. The project started in June 2017 in Wuzhen and was completed in July 2019.
One of the challenges in designing the banquet hall was the use of the caisson ceiling, a traditional Chinese design element, along with multilevel space design, traditional blue batik cloth, architectural features of Wuzhen, and classical crystal lamps. These elements were used to create a unique banquet dining atmosphere that combines local culture and modern aesthetic taste.
Qiong Wang's Yunzhou Banquet Hall is a shining example of how design can bridge the gap between tradition and modernity, creating spaces that are not only functional but also culturally significant. This design serves as a reminder of the power of design to create meaningful connections between people and their environment.
