Feather: A Cozy and Tidy Residence Designed by Page Li

Transforming Tradition into Fluidity

To alleviate the constraints of low ceilings and complex partitions, Page Li has transformed the originally two-story building into an open-plan maisonette. This innovative approach creates a seamless flow and a sense of fluidity throughout the space. The clean lines and cohesive black and white color palette contribute to a pure and visually pleasing environment.

One of the standout features of Feather is its commitment to sustainability. The flooring and wall coatings are made from green materials, ensuring an eco-friendly design. Linear lighting is strategically placed throughout the space, eliminating the need for excessive light sources and reducing energy consumption. Smart light switches have also been incorporated, providing convenience for the residents while minimizing waste.

Feather spans an area of 110.6 square meters and is located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The project was completed in June 2021, showcasing the designer's dedication to creating a harmonious living space.

The common area on the first floor encompasses the entrance, living room, kitchen, and dining room. Light wooden floor panels contrast with the white walls, ceiling, and cabinets, creating visual interest and stability. Subtle color changes between the kitchen and living room delineate the areas without creating barriers.

One of the design's challenges was paying attention to detail. Page Li incorporated embedded lights into the lower beams, ceiling seams, and cabinet edges. These lighting elements not only enhance the space but also create captivating visual effects with the interplay of light and shadow.

Feather's design philosophy is rooted in the belief that a clear and well-designed space can have a profound impact on one's well-being. By simplifying the visual elements and optimizing flow and lighting, Page Li has created a residence that offers both comfort and visual enjoyment.

Feather has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022.
