Wuhan Insun International Cineplex: A Tribute to Traditional Filmmaking

One Plus Partnership Limited's Innovative Cinema Design Honors the Art of Film

In an era where digital technology dominates, One Plus Partnership Limited takes a step back to pay homage to the traditional methods of film production. Their design for the Wuhan Insun International Cineplex is a testament to the timeless art of filmmaking.

The design inspiration for the cineplex comes from the bygone era of roll films and lightboxes, tools once indispensable to filmmakers. These tools, though now obsolete, have been instrumental in creating numerous cinematic classics. The designers' decision to adopt traditional film editing as the theme of their design serves as a tribute to the filmmakers who have contributed to the industry over the years.

The cineplex stands out for its unique use of lightboxes, hung throughout the cinema. These lightboxes are made of four different types of metal mesh. As light penetrates the metal mesh, it creates an interplay between light and shadow that enriches the lighting effect in the lobby. Some lightboxes are painted with single Chinese characters, abstractly indicating areas of the cinema and representing images on roll films. This nostalgic lighting is a poignant symbol of the passage of time.

The design realization technology includes a variety of materials such as metal mesh, marble stone, artificial stone, oak, laminate, clear mirror, crystal glass, laminated glass, sound-absorbing panels, and hand-woven carpets. The cineplex spans a generous 4200 square meters, providing ample space for movie-goers to immerse themselves in the cinematic experience.

The Wuhan Insun International Cineplex, located in Wuhan, China, is a testament to the designers' commitment to honoring the art of filmmaking. The design project was a collaborative effort by the team at One Plus Partnership Limited. The intellectual property rights for the design belong to One Plus Partnership Limited, as of 2017.

The design's unique approach and innovative use of space and light have not gone unnoticed. In 2017, the Wuhan Insun International Cineplex was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award. This prestigious award is granted to outstanding and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
