Wulianghong: A Fusion of Tradition and Innovation in Liquor Packaging

Sisi Don's Award-Winning Design Celebrates Chinese Heritage in a Modern Context

Wulianghong, a liquor packaging design by Sisi Don, is a testament to the harmonious blend of traditional Chinese aesthetics and modern design principles. This design, which won the Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2020, is a celebration of Chinese heritage, showcasing national color, art, and flower in a unique and engaging manner.

The inspiration behind Wulianghong is deeply rooted in Chinese culture. The design draws from the traditional Chinese furniture, the screen, and infuses elements of Chinese red, embroidery, and peony into the packaging. This combination of techniques results in a design that beautifully illustrates the Chinese beauty.

What sets Wulianghong apart from other designs is its unique opening experience and display effect. The bottle, crafted from a combination of materials, resembles a blooming flower, presenting oriental traditional aesthetics and the temperament of a high-end product. The design is full of humanistic elements and artistic value, reflecting the typical Chinese features.

The realization of this design was achieved through a meticulous process. The traditional Chinese embroidery, known for its exquisite workmanship, and the classic window sills, known for their flexibility and changeability, were combined to give the package a more poetic and artistic expression. The three-fold style of the packaging serves a dual purpose of protecting and showcasing the product simultaneously.

Wulianghong is a product of rigorous research and creative problem-solving. The design team, comprising Shenzhen baixinglong creative packaging Co., Ltd and the Neptune team, faced the challenge of incorporating the embroidery craft into the design. However, their dedication to creating a product packaging with a distinctive style, unique appearance, and high-end taste paid off, resulting in a breathtaking visual effect.

The design project started in August 2017 in Shenzhen and was completed in June 2018 in Chengdu. It was later exhibited at The 14th China International Alcoholic Drinks Expo in April 2019. The design, with its oriental characteristics, was recognized for its creative and professional excellence, earning the Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2020. This award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, and Wulianghong certainly fits the bill.
