Maoyuan Jingxi: A New Paradigm in Show Flat Design

T.K.Chu Design Transforms Traditional Living Spaces with Innovative Design Concepts

Maoyuan Jingxi, a show flat in Beijing, is redefining the concept of urban living. Designed by T.K.Chu Design, this innovative project presents a unique blend of modern trends, living arrangements, and lifestyle curation, creating a space that sparks creative thinking and offers a promise of life beyond the conventional.

T.K.Chu Design's inspiration for Maoyuan Jingxi was to create a space that not only serves people's functional needs but also stimulates their imagination. The design team incorporated a series of miniature gardens into the home, providing occupants with captivating views. The entrance hallway, a radical departure from traditional Chinese entrance design, is filled with overwhelming brightness, setting the tone for the rest of the home.

The unique properties of this design lie in its innovative use of space. The team employed a "subtraction design" method, removing redundant functional spaces and reconstructing the spatial flow. This resulted in a living space with a spacious atmosphere and rational moving line, encouraging frequent encounters among family members. The main materials used include Jinyuan marble, Saint Laurent black gold marble, Eucalyptus veneer, white glass, wall cloth, leather, and brass.

The design team, led by T.K.Chu and Xin Yuan, and including Songtao Li, Shuai Du, Zidong Zhang, Yingjie Li, Yizhong Qiu, Xiaofang Zhang, Yiyang Zhang, Yanling Men, Siqi Kang, and Zihao Wu, faced the challenge of creating a living context that would satisfy, suit, and lead the lifestyle of high-end consumers. Their solution was to design both sharing and private areas for every family member, catering to the variable lifestyle of these consumers.

One of the key features of the design is the expanded kitchen space. The designers used a lounge bar to integrate various elements including Chinese kitchen, Western kitchen, bar, and breakfast bar, presenting an annular circulation to enrich the possibilities of colorful life. The bedroom features a round bed, injecting dynamism into the space and revealing the "playful" nature of elites. The living area is flexible, allowing for different functional divisions. The luxury style and exquisite layout demonstrate the intrinsic quality of elites.

The project, which took place from May 2018 to November 2018, was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
