Hong Hai Ju Plaza and SCPG Incity: A Harmonious Blend of History and Modernity

Aico's Award-Winning Design Celebrates Jinan's Urban Spirit and Historical Context

The project's unique design features are its pedestrian-friendly scale and the creation of a cultural plaza at the northeast corner of the site, directly opposite the historical landmark, Hongjialou Cathedral. The plaza is home to the renovated 100-year-old Sister House, marking the entry point to the outdoor shopping precinct. This precinct offers a diverse range of cultural, leisure, and entertainment services, making it an attractive hub for customers and visitors.

The outdoor district is seamlessly connected to the indoor mall on multiple levels, encouraging a more diversified shopping experience. The mixed-use program includes a shopping center, an outdoor lifestyle district, offices, SOHO, a hotel, and apartments. The project covers a site area of 59,100 m2, with retail space of 167,200 m2, office space of 90,300 m2, S.A. of 66,400 m2, and a hotel area of 21,300 m2.

Despite being located in the bustling city center of Jinan, surrounded by historical buildings and a crowded business district, the project successfully replaces the existing chaotic street shops with a modern indoor shopping mall. It continues and encourages the tradition of vibrant urban sidewalks and public spaces, becoming an instant urban destination and life hub for the public.

The project was initiated in April 2013 in Jinan and completed in June 2019. It was a collaborative effort by a team of designers including Rudan Ye, Jun Zhang, Shiyang Sun, Yeqing Cao, Xiaopei Zhang, Chang Li, Kailin Li, Ru Li, and Lei Wang. The design was recognized for its outstanding expertise and innovation, winning the Silver A' Architecture, Building, and Structure Design Award in 2021.
