WeAre4810: Redefining Brand Identity

A Contemporary Approach to Traditional Values

WeAre4810, a brand identity project by designer Laura Ferrario, breathes new life into the historic sports equipment rental shop in Courmayeur. With a vision to expand beyond rental services and encompass shopping and food, the project combines innovation and tradition under the iconic 4810 brand.

Inspired by the towering height of Mont Blanc, which stands at 4810 meters, WeAre4810 encapsulates a range of ideas, objects, and materials. The brand's graphical form utilizes contemporary and solid numbers, serving as a seal of quality and modernity. These numbers also become containers of images, adding a visual element to the brand's identity.

The uniqueness of WeAre4810 lies in its ability to evolve and adapt. From rental services to shopping and food, the brand seamlessly integrates various aspects of the lifestyle experience. It represents a harmonious blend of innovation and tradition, catering to a diverse range of customers.

The realization of WeAre4810 involved the use of different materials, shapes, and channels to effectively communicate its multiple messages. Paper was employed for brochures, postcards, shopping bags, sugar sachets, and menus, while PVC was used for the external signs. Ceramics found their place in the coffee cups, and fabric was chosen for the uniforms. The project also employed various printing techniques, including pad printing, screen printing, and digital printing.

Functionality was a key consideration in the design process. WeAre4810 was created to be reproduced on any material surface and transmitted through various channels, including mobile phones and videos. A comprehensive manual was developed to guide both customers and suppliers in faithfully reproducing the brand's identity.

The WeAre4810 project, led by Laura Ferrario, commenced in January 2018 in Courmayeur and concluded in February 2020. Extensive research was conducted to seamlessly combine technical products like skis with emotional products like food. The challenge lay in finding the right balance between colors, symbols, and the versatile nature of the "WeAre" concept, which could be adapted to different aspects such as rental, food, shopping, and more.

WeAreFood, a significant addition to the brand, serves as a meeting point for sports enthusiasts. This space offers breakfast in the morning, lunch with traditional dishes like polenta, and snacks paired with fine wines after a day of skiing. The concept is enhanced by a clock that marks four specific moments throughout the day. The clock's hands take the form of a fork and a spoon, emphasizing the culinary experience at WeAreFood.

WeAre4810, with its contemporary yet timeless design, has received accolades for its creativity and ingenuity. The project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This recognition celebrates designs that showcase technical and creative excellence, contributing to an improved quality of life.

With WeAre4810, Laura Ferrario has successfully redefined brand identity, breathing new life into a historic establishment while embracing the future of lifestyle experiences. The project serves as a testament to the power of design in creating meaningful and impactful connections with customers.
