Georg Illy's Award-Winning Redesign Honors History and Quality

Georg Illy's redesign of Auer Signal's corporate identity has won the prestigious Silver A' Design Award. The new design, inspired by the company's rich history and commitment to quality, has breathed new life into the brand's visual language.

Auer Signal, a leading producer of high-quality signalling equipment, needed a design that reflected their reputation for excellence. The previous design fell short of this, prompting a complete overhaul of the brand's visual identity. The result is a minimalistic design that not only communicates the brand's quality but also pays homage to its history.

The redesign was inspired by the company's roots, particularly a ventilator developed by the executive director's grandfather in the 1960s. This historical connection is reflected in the new logo, which is reminiscent of the side view of the ventilator. The logo, along with high-quality photography, a new website, and printed selling material, forms a cohesive and impactful visual language that embodies the essence of Auer Signal.

The project, which spanned from January 2016 to April 2017, was realized using a variety of materials and techniques. The catalogue, produced in five languages, along with business cards, envelopes, and notebooks, were printed on high-quality paper with two Pantone colors. The notebooks were further enhanced with white foil embossing and blue linen. A website with a configuration tool, a logo animation, and product photographs were also created as part of the redesign.

The redesign was not only a visual transformation but also a strategic one. Extensive research into Auer Signal's history and its competitors informed the design process. The goal was to create a design that stood out in the market while staying true to the brand's heritage. The result is a design that is both modern and timeless, a testament to Auer Signal's enduring legacy.
