Rigol: A Harmonious Blend of Art and Office Space

Helen Huang and Qiwei Liu's Award-Winning Design for Rigol's Suzhou Headquarters

Inspired by minimalist painter Frank Stella's philosophy, "what you see is what you get," Helen Huang and Qiwei Liu have created a unique office space for Rigol, a leading brand in the testing and measurement industry. The design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, is a testament to the infinite possibilities of integrating art with space.

The Rigol office design stands out for its innovative use of space. Huang and Liu have constructed a spatial structure where the space itself becomes part of the structure. This approach allows everyone in the office to have an intuitive feeling and independent understanding of art. The design team's aim was to bring the interior design back to the Rigol product itself, providing the most intuitive sensory experience possible.

The office's color scheme is another unique feature. The corporate color of Rigol flows throughout the space, creating a relaxed and active environment. The main tones of white and wood harmonize the space, delivering a natural and fresh sensory experience. Materials such as paint, hand-painted silk wallpaper, classical brass metal hardware, colored curved wood veneers, and natural marble were used to achieve this effect.

The Rigol hall's logo background wall is a standout feature. The design team abandoned traditional decorative practices and instead used a hollowed-out brand logo wall to display Rigol's proud products from all periods. This approach blends the company's corporate culture with its products, transitioning from interior design to product R&D and showcasing Rigol's infinite possibilities.

The project, which covers an area of 4869 sqm, was completed in Suzhou between October 2019 and January 2020. The design team faced the challenge of integrating art and space, using clean and refreshing colors, and incorporating Stella's philosophy into their creative thinking. Their success in overcoming these challenges is evident in the final design, which provides an immersive office experience for Rigol employees.

In conclusion, Helen Huang and Qiwei Liu's design for Rigol's Suzhou headquarters is a remarkable example of the integration of art and space. The design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, is a testament to the infinite possibilities of this approach. The office's unique spatial structure, color scheme, and logo background wall all contribute to an immersive and intuitive office experience for Rigol employees.
