Since its inception in June 2019 in Austin, Texas, USA, the SkyGrid project has been ongoing. The design team has faced challenges in determining which features should take precedence for pilots and understanding the specific needs during different stages of flight creation and on-flight processes.

The product was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category.
