SkyGrid: Revolutionizing Aerial Vehicle Management

Creating Seamless Flight Experiences with AI

Co-founded by Milton Lopez and Henry Han

SkyGrid, a groundbreaking aerial vehicle management system, is set to revolutionize the way we navigate the skies. Inspired by the software used by air traffic control staff and video game dashboards, designers Milton Lopez and Henry Han have created an innovative product that aims to enable autonomous aerial traffic operations.

With the goal of providing a seamless flight experience for operators, SkyGrid utilizes artificial intelligence to enable self-regulated aerial traffic. The product offers flight, environmental, and regulatory data, providing users with a complete picture of the airspace. This comprehensive information allows operators to make informed decisions and optimize their routes for specific operations in real time.

The design process for SkyGrid involved extensive research on the needs of drone pilots and gathering feedback from existing users. By understanding the struggles and preferences of users, the design team was able to improve the product experience and create a user-friendly interface.

SkyGrid's user interface is designed to present a complete picture of the airspace, allowing pilots to plan, manage, and track flights and vehicles with ease. By providing the right environmental and regulatory information at the right time, pilots can execute missions effortlessly. Whether it's monitoring area conditions, vehicle conditions, or regulatory statuses, SkyGrid ensures that pilots have all the necessary information at their fingertips.

Designed for desktops and tablets, SkyGrid offers a versatile experience for users. The standard dimensions for desktops in the industry are 1920" x 1080", while tablet sizes may vary, with a common size being 1280" x 800". This flexibility allows operators to access the system on various devices, ensuring convenience and accessibility.

Since its inception in June 2019 in Austin, Texas, USA, the SkyGrid project has been ongoing. The design team has faced challenges in determining which features should take precedence for pilots and understanding the specific needs during different stages of flight creation and on-flight processes.

The innovative design and functionality of SkyGrid have not gone unnoticed. The product was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious accolade recognizes designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

SkyGrid's revolutionary approach to aerial vehicle management has the potential to transform industries and make the world a better place. By harnessing the power of AI and providing pilots with real-time information, SkyGrid is paving the way for a safer and more efficient future in the skies.
