The inspiration behind the Sunset Sunrise Ring stems from the complex and enchanting moments of sunrise and sunset. Ayse Teke Mingu wanted to convey the beauty of these natural phenomena and translate them into a wearable piece of art. The ring's design features an artificial infinite loop of infinitely shifting movements, reminiscent of the ever-changing illumination of the sky during these magical moments.

What sets the Sunset Sunrise Ring apart is its ability to constantly transform and change, just like the captivating moments of sunrise and sunset. The ring invites wearers to interact with it, allowing them to adjust its position based on their mood and style. By rotating the ring counter clockwise, the diamond within the ring begins to brighten up, reaching its brightest point when the tube stands vertical and open. The wearer can stop the movement at any position, creating an infinite number of cycles and motion.

The Sunset Sunrise Ring is meticulously handcrafted with genuine 925 sterling silver, ensuring its durability and timeless elegance. The ring consists of two parts: a main body with a fixed position half torus and a movable part that can be turned. The user can toggle between various states, from fully closed to partially open or fully open, creating a new design and expression with each position.

Ayse Teke Mingu faced several challenges during the creation of the Sunset Sunrise Ring. Stabilizing the screw and ensuring the ring's movements were balanced and controlled required meticulous attention to detail. However, through perseverance and creative problem-solving, Ayse successfully overcame these obstacles, resulting in a design that seamlessly combines beauty and functionality.

The Sunset Sunrise Ring project began in December 2018 and was completed in December 2020 in Istanbul, Turkey. The design process involved extensive research on the relationship between geometry, geography, and astronomy, drawing inspiration from the constantly changing positions of the Sun and Earth in orbit.

Ayse Teke Mingu's exceptional design has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2021. This award celebrates designs that are not only visually appealing but also practical and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements.
