Zhengrong Mansion: A Modern Marvel by Kan Tan

Reviving the Maritime Silk Road through Innovative Design

The Zhengrong Mansion is not just a building; it's a narrative of the city's rich history and a vision for the future. Drawing inspiration from the flowing River Min, the design of the Mansion is akin to silk satin, stretching softly and adding a complementary interest to the architecture, landscape, and interior space. The design's unique properties lie in its sustainable development, making it a land of ideal and freedom, unrestricted by form but deeply rooted in the region's history.

Realizing this design was a journey of sophisticated deductions and surprises. Water drops slowly fall from the sky, flowing into curves hidden in the screen. Clear crystals inlaid on the wall are like melting ice in the spring, reflecting glamour under the light. The Mansion covers a total of 1200 square meters, a testament to the grandeur of the project.

The design's interaction is fueled by the integration of nihility into physical objects. An object with life will inadvertently awaken and light up the space, keeping a harmonious balance. The project started in September 2019 in Torino and finished in May 2020 in Rimini, marking a significant milestone in Kan Tan's design journey.

Research for this design was rooted in the understanding that immersing in the noises and light of the city for too long can lead to weariness. Leaving some blankness for the space offers people chances to retrospect, simplifying life and purifying the heart. The design faced challenges in subtly dissolving mandatory circulation line restrictions, a testament to Kan Tan's skill and creativity.

The design's color layout and accessory selection strive to be pure and refined, following the lifestyle and functional requirements of customer groups. The designer extracted ripples, water droplets, and other elements from the concept of "Rongcheng and the Sea Silk Road" and extended irregular shapes. The forward-looking design brushstrokes shaped the integrated presentation of various spatial organizations, expressing the aesthetic attitude of modern oriental installations.

The project was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a prestigious accolade rewarding top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs.
