Zi Zhai's Innovative Approach to Modern Office Design

The U Media Office project, designed by Zi Zhai, redefines the classic office design. Inspired by the need for a modern office environment that balances comfort and tension, order and artistry, Zhai's design takes humanistic care as its basic concept. The design pattern is open and orderly, the style is clear and light, and the rhythm is efficient and capable, reflecting the company's core values, humanistic connotation, and commercial pursuits.

Zhai's design stands out for its unique properties. Despite the average office space being about 3 square meters and the budget being extremely low, Zhai has managed to create a space that meets all the demands of a modern office. His profound professional knowledge, work experience, and aesthetic skills have resulted in a perfect solution for the U Media Office project.

The design was realized using cost-effective methods, in line with the functional requirements of the office space. The layout was optimized, simple materials were used, and suitable technology was employed to maximize use and save budget. The project covers a total of 100 square meters and features an interior that is modern, simple, artistic, and warm.

In terms of interaction, the design includes a 4-meter-long bar beside an arch, which not only divides the functional areas but also provides a place for employees to relax and recharge. The design also takes into account the lighting needs of the office, using local lighting to brighten the desk area with a neutral and soft light source that reduces eye strain.

Despite the challenges posed by the limited space, Zhai was able to overcome them creatively. For instance, soft boards were installed on the walls where employees face, to avoid a cold and stiff feeling and to allow for notes to be posted. The office is mainly in bright colors, using a classic color scheme of black, white, and gray, which eases the tension and fatigue of urban life and improves work efficiency.

The U Media Office project, which started in November 2019 in Qingdao and finished in December 2019, has been recognized for its innovative design. It was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This award is given to designs that showcase outstanding expertise and innovation, strong technical characteristics, and splendid artistic skill, introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
