Apex: The Pinnacle of Cordless Lighting

NEOZ's Apex Lamp: A Tribute to the Magill's 25th Anniversary

NEOZ, a pioneer in cordless lighting, celebrates its 25-year anniversary with the Apex, a high-quality sustainable lamp that pays homage to the original Magill. This compact and robust product provides a useful glare-free downlight for tablescapes, demonstrating the perfect blend of design and technology.

Designed by Peter Ellis and Gabriel Tam, the Apex lamp is a testament to NEOZ's commitment to innovation and sustainability. The lamp's design is inspired by the original Magill cordless table lamp, introduced in 1995. However, the Apex is not just a tribute; it is an evolution. It retains the pure geometric quality of its predecessor while offering a compact and exceptionally robust product that is tactile to handle, simple to recharge, and provides a useful glare-free downlight for tablescapes.

What sets the Apex apart is its focus on maximizing output efficiency. The lamp provides a glare-free soft downlight on its internal cone, resulting in warm ambient task light for hospitality or residential use. Its cordless design and compact size facilitate flexibility in table settings and ease of sanitizing, especially relevant during the Covid pandemic. The lamp is easy to hold and repair, with only mechanical fittings, enhancing its durability and sustainability.

The Apex lamp is precision-milled from solid brass or aluminium alloy and mechanically joined via a clear acrylic machined tube to an internal injection-moulded form. The lamp has only mechanical fixings, making it simple to repair, upgrade, or recycle. In the event a part replacement is required, the lamp can be easily disassembled without any tools by the user, ensuring product longevity.

The Apex is available in either solid brass or anodised aluminium in six colourways. It is fitted with NEOZ's proprietary V4.5 cordless lamp control unit, utilizing a bespoke 1W 2600K 94CRI LED disc. Powered by a Japanese made Panasonic Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery, the lamp can achieve over 10 hours of operating time on the highest brightness setting, providing 100 lumens of illumination.

The Apex features a simple 3-step touch switch operation. It can be recharged or powered directly using mains power. For ease of operation, the lamp will automatically turn off when it returns to the recharging dock. The Apex cordless table lamp has been designed to provide a glare-free downlight and soft glow on the internal metallic cone, resulting in a warm ambient task light for hospitality or residential use.

The Apex lamp's design and realization process began in November 2017 in Sydney, Australia, with manufacturing commencing in June 2020. The product was launched in December 2020. The design was awarded the Golden A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award in 2021, a testament to its outstanding design and trendsetting creation.
