Creep Design's Award-Winning Interior Design Inspired by a Mother's Embrace

The 'Z' project by Creep Design is a testament to the power of inspiration. The design team, led by CEO Yu-Zu Chuang, Art Director Chia-Chi Kuo, and designers Shih-Yao Huang and Yi-Hsuan Ho, sought to capture the warmth and comfort of a mother's hug in their design. The space is based on cold tones, but the team sought to infuse it with warmth and smoothness, reminiscent of the comforting arc of a mother's embrace.

What sets this design apart is its unique blend of materials and design elements. The team used a convergence of different materials, including marble, terrazzo, FENIX, cement, and titanium-plated metal, to create a 3D arc ceiling design. The design's dimensions are 8287mm X 6853mm X 2700mm, and it features a minimalist aesthetic with streamlined arcs and arches.

The design process, which took place from November 2019 to May 2020, involved several challenges. The team had to repeatedly repair and paint the arc-shaped ceiling to achieve the desired soft vibe. They also had to adjust the proportions of different gray materials in the same space and process the interface for connecting different materials. Despite these challenges, the team successfully created a space that mimics the protective nature of the mother's womb and provides a relaxing environment for body and mind.

The 'Z' project is not just a design; it's an interaction. The original layout of the living room was without daylight. The team removed the partition walls and changed the layout to allow sunlight to shine through the entire space. They discarded excessive decorative materials and colors to make the space simple and comfortable. The arc-shaped ceiling design makes people feel covered, calm, and warm.

The design was realized in a location at 26F., No. 202-1, Jiankang Rd., Zhonghe Dist., New Taipei City 235, Taiwan (R.O.C.). It's a testament to Creep Design's innovative approach to residential interior design, which has earned them a Bronze A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021.
