Fck 2020: A Calendar That Mocks a Damned Year

Lateral Creative Hub's Award-Winning Design Celebrates the Arrival of 2021

The calendar, designed by Francesco Fallisi and Federica Bello, is a limited edition design object that encapsulates twelve months of dreams and desires. The inspiration behind the design was to turn the page on a difficult year with a smile, harnessing the power of imagination, words, and irony.

What sets "Fck 2020" apart from other calendars is its unique leporello form. This allows it to be kept flat and browsed like a book, or stood on a desk in the shape of a circle or various other forms. The design was realized using HP Indigo print technology on Divina white paper by Gruppo Cordenons, weighing 240 gms.

The creative process for this unique calendar began in October 2020 in Milan, Italy. It was printed in late November and sent to customers from December 2020. The design team faced challenges in achieving high-quality print while keeping costs down and minimizing environmental impact. They overcame this by testing various papers before finding the perfect fit.

Research for the design involved finding an eye-catching combination of graphic, visual, and structural elements that would appeal to a broad audience. The team also aimed to create a three-dimensional object that could assume many forms. The result was a quick customer response and extensive media coverage, including articles in newspapers and design blogs.

The "Fck 2020" calendar is more than just a functional object. It is a symbol of liberation, a talisman, and an invitation to turn the page with a smile. This innovative design was recognized with a Golden A' Design Award in 2021, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding and trendsetting creations that significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
